Overview

This university course is for students who want to learn how to manage people and understand their roles in a business. The course is approved by a professional body called the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, so it meets high industry standards. You will learn how to create good human resource plans, including how to hire staff, train them, look after their well-being, and improve their work performance within a business.

The course also includes subjects like how people behave in organisations, managing staff in different countries, and dealing with employee issues, along with general business topics. Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information about their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CVs along with their applications to show their work experience. Applications are assessed individually, considering qualifications and predicted grades.

Grade Requirements

  • Applicants will need A-Levels at ABB, or a Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma at DDD, or 33 points in the International Baccalaureate Diploma.

English Proficiency

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to score 6.5 overall in IELTS Academic, with 6.0 in Writing and 5.5 in each other element.
  • Equivalent test scores from PTE Academic (67) or Duolingo English Test (120) are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For the BSc Business Management with Human Resource Management with placement, annual tuition fees are £22,800 for overseas students. The Professional Training Year incurs an additional fee of £1,900.

Scholarships

The University of Surrey has different scholarships and bursaries to help undergraduate students with their costs, like the International Excellence Award gives a £5,000 discount on fees for some international students who have done very well academically. There is also the Battersea Scholarship, which can provide up to £16,000 for students who have been in care. Students who are care leavers or estranged can get a Care Leaver and Estranged Student Bursary of £3,000 each year, plus an extra £500 when they graduate. The Forever Surrey Scholarship also offers up to £16,000 for students who meet certain criteria. Lastly, the Antonio Carluccio Foundation PTY Bursary gives £4,000 to students doing their Professional Training Year if they want to work in the restaurant or food industry.
