BSc Psychology

Course Overview

The BSc Psychology programme at the University of Sunderland provides an in-depth study of the brain and human behaviour. It is structured around the five core areas of psychology required by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and explores how the theory of evolution shapes human actions and thought processes.

Upon completion of the degree with at least a 2:2 classification, graduates are eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the BPS — an essential step towards becoming a professional psychologist.

Learning takes place through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, and individual tutorials. Assessments include essays, scientific reports, oral presentations, exams, case studies, academic posters, portfolios, and a Practical Project in the final year.
