BSc Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management

The BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at the University of South Wales is designed to train students for careers in the construction and property development industries. It has the official stamp of approval from two important professional bodies: the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors. By taking this course, you will gain the skills needed to manage the finances of building projects, handle the paperwork and agreements involved, and become a leader in the business and financial side of these projects.

This course will teach you about a range of subjects, from how buildings are put together and the relevant laws, to managing contracts and the commercial side of businesses in this sector. You'll start by learning the basics and then move on to more in-depth topics that are directly useful in the industry. In your final year, you'll also complete a major research project called a dissertation.

You'll learn through hands-on sessions and actual projects, often working together with companies in the industry. Your progress will be checked through assignments, exams, and practical exercises. These are designed to see how well you understand the academic side of things and how capable you are in a professional setting.

The University of South Wales (USW) is a government-funded university in Wales that was created in 2013 when two other universities joined together. It's a big university with 30,000 students, including 3,500 students from over 120 countries. USW has three main campuses, Cardiff, Newport, and Pontypridd, and offers various degree courses. Grade Requirements

• Applicants need UCAS points of 96 or above. Other qualifications include A Levels at CCC with at least one relevant subject, or a BTEC with Merit Merit Merit in a related field. Applicants can also qualify with a Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate at grade C. An Access to HE Diploma with a minimum of 96 UCAS tariff points is also accepted.

English Proficiency

• International candidates need an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component/TOEFL 72 overall and a minimum of 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking, and 17 in writing.

International students opting for the BSc Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management programme should expect to pay a tuition fee of £16,200 for the 2025-26 academic session.

The USW provides scholarships and bursaries for international students enrolling in the various undergraduate programmes. For the 2025/26 academic year, the Chancellor's International Development Scholarship offers £2,500 per year; the International Office Scholarship offers up to £1,500 for undergraduate students, and the Early CAS Scholarship provides an additional £500 per year.
