PhD Health informatics postgraduate research degrees

Course Overview

The PhD in Health Informatics at the University of Portsmouth is for students who want to use technology to improve healthcare. This course helps you understand how to manage and use health data to support doctors, nurses, and patients. You will learn to work with health information systems and do research that makes healthcare safer, faster, and better. This PhD is perfect for people who enjoy both healthcare and computer science.

During this PhD program, students will choose a topic that mixes health and technology. They can either work on ways to help hospitals use digital tools or study how data can help predict diseases. You will get a research supervisor to guide you during your studies and research. The University of Portsmouth works with hospitals, health companies, and tech groups to give you real experience. You will also attend workshops to improve your research, writing, and computer skills.

Students will learn mostly by doing your research, which includes reading, collecting data, and creating new ideas. Your supervisor will help you stay on track and make sure you are learning well. You will have to write a research paper called a thesis at the end of your programme. Students will also have to talk about their research to a group of experts, and if they find the work to be excellent, they will get their PhD.
