MA Interior Architecture and Design
Course overview
The MA Interior Architecture and Design (January Start) at the University of Portsmouth allows students to focus on the interior and develop an understanding of the built environment through sensory and affective engagement. They will study in a conducive environment with other architecture courses as they learn to understand their strengths and skills in the wider design environment.
Students will be encouraged to engage with interior spaces through creative practice, experimentation, material engagement, and tangible and intangible matters, and learn to use advanced technologies and tools such as 3D printers and augmented and virtual reality in the university's Centre for Creative and Immersive Extended Reality (CCIXR).
They will discover practices of care and consider carefulness and communication as they engage with climate change by looking at city-scale infrastructures, among other things. Students will explore everyday details and the relationship between our lived experience and the structures that impact how we live.
