MA Games Development

Course Overview

The University of Portsmouth MA Games Development course is created for students who are interested in computer games design. This course provides students with an opportunity to participate in a creative project and helps improve their abilities for roles in the expanding creative sectors. The course takes a project-centred approach, allowing students to shape their creative work in games design and development.

In this course, students will gain access to modern software and equipment, including a Virtual Reality Lab and Motion Capture facilities. Teaching is supported by experienced academic staff and industry partners, and students’ evaluation includes detailed written comments on assignments and ongoing guidance from a project supervisor. 

The course is available both full-time (one year) and part-time (two years), with a start date in September 2025. This programme is a specialisation within the MA Creative Technologies course.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

Applicants need to submit a personal statement explaining their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. They can also upload their CV along with their applications to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements: 

  • Applicants for this course need at least a second-class honours degree, a Master's degree or its equivalent in a related subject. 
  • Equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications may be accepted by the university.

English Proficiency:

  • If you are from a country where English is not the main language, you will need to have a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 overall, with no individual section score below 5.5. You can also submit other equivalent test scores, like TOEFL and PTE.

Cost of Study

International students studying full-time will pay £17,900 for the University of Portsmouth MA Games Development programme.
