PhD Management

Course Overview

Kent Business School has over 100 research-active academic staff, and postgraduate research can take place in any subject area where they have expertise. They offer international expertise in accounting, finance, international business strategy, organisational behaviour, human resource management, marketing and supply chain management. 

Each research student is supported by a supervisory team who give guidance about the nature of the research, the standard of work required, and the relevant literature and sources. Formal progression reviews are held at key points, and each student participates in a mandatory research training programme. 

Kent Business School PhD students get access to office space with a laptop, funds for conference attendance and research expenses, research methods training, and full access to the facilities of the Graduate and Researcher College.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are considered on an individual basis, and additional qualifications, professional qualifications, and relevant experience may also be taken into account. You must submit a research proposal of approximately 1,500 words on your intended topic.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants are expected to have a 2.1 at the undergraduate level and a merit at masters level in a relevant discipline from a UK or other approved university and/or equivalent.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate English language proficiency through an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section, or by providing equivalent scores from tests such as PTE or TOEFL.

Cost of Study

International students are charged £19,300 per year for tuition for the PhD Management programme at the University of Kent.
