University of Kent

Course overview

The three-year BSc Biology degree is a full-time, hands-on programme exploring the science of life, from molecular biology and genetics to ecosystems and global issues. The curriculum is research-informed, enabling students to work alongside academic researchers and gain extensive laboratory and field skills from their first year, using modern equipment.

Assessment involves a blend of examinations and coursework, including laboratory reports, essays, and presentations. Students complete a final-year capstone project linked to active research. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as neuroscience or conservation. The degree is professionally recognised by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB).
