BM BS Medicine
Course overview
This is a five-year undergraduate course called the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BM BS). It is awarded jointly by the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University through the Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS). The course is built to offer students the basic practical, academic, and professional skills required to become doctors, covering everything from local care to major areas of medicine.
The BM BS Medicine at the University of Kent focuses on putting knowledge into practice through placements in medical, surgical, local, and community settings, giving students key hands-on experience. Study methods include learning in teams (TBL), and students are graded using Applied Knowledge Tests (AKT) for academic knowledge and Objectively Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) for assessing practical skills.

Candidates should submit a personal statement in which they state their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. An academic or employer reference is also required. Students have the choice to upload their CVs along with their applications to show their work experience, though work experience should display an understanding of what a career in medicine involves.
