LLB Law With Foundation Year
Course overview
The LLB Law with Foundation Year at the University of Hull is a four-year law degree designed for students who are interested in law but do not yet meet the entry requirements for the standard three-year programme. The foundation year gives students the opportunity to build academic skills, legal understanding, and confidence before progressing to the full law degree.
Teaching is highly practical. Alongside lectures and small-group seminars, students take part in real legal activities such as arguing cases in mock courtrooms (mooting), practising client interviews, learning negotiation skills, and supporting real clients through the university’s free Legal Advice Centre.
Assessment is varied and not limited to written exams. Students are assessed through essays, coursework, presentations, group projects, mooting competitions, practical tasks, and some written examinations. On graduation, students receive a full qualifying law degree approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board.
