University of East London

Course overview

The BSc Computer Science with Education and Qualified Teacher Status at the University of East London merges computer science knowledge with hands-on experience in school settings. Throughout this three-year course, students will study core technical subjects while gaining a deep-seated understanding of the impact of technology on society, immersing themselves in software engineering, programming languages, computer systems, architecture, and data structures while working in specialised computer science laboratories and specified structures where students will study for two-thirds of their programme.

Beyond technical expertise and to improve teaching skills, students will take part in regular school experiences from their first year to get a comprehensive teaching qualification in just three years. UEL is the provider of this type of programme in London. By eliminating the need for a postgraduate certification, students will be ready to teach computer science in schools upon graduation.
