BSc Computing Science with a Year in Industry
Course overview
The University of East Anglia BSc Computing Science with Industry Year programme in Computing Science has an extended work placement incorporated, thus enabling students to enjoy a solid foundation in modern computing as they work in industry throughout a year. The curriculum covers topics such as Artificial Intelligence, business and bank data management, web usability and app development, graphics, and software engineering. During the first and second years, the students learn the necessary skills along with a good foundation in computing theory and master the popular languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, and C++.
Students will learn through lectures, seminars, and direct classes in a laboratory, which gives students a practical experience of solving problems. The assessment involves written work, demonstrations, presentations, in-class tests, and an individual or group project, so that both theoretical and practical knowledge are tested. The third year is spent on a paid industry placement lasting 9-12 months, with the assistance of a university mentor, where students put their academic knowledge into the real-life IT settings, before returning for their final year research project.
