BSc Psychology and Criminology
Course overview
The three-year BSc Psychology and Criminology at the University of Derby combines the study of Psychology and Criminology. This enables students to become skilled graduates with knowledge in two areas. Students get to decide by the end of their first year if they want to study both subjects equally or focus more on one than the other. If they choose to major in Psychology and meet the rules, the course is approved by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Students will learn in specialist buildings that include a copy of a Crown Court and a Custody Suite (police station holding area). This gives students hands-on experience in criminal justice. Their marks will come from things like written work, practical reports, and presentations, as there are no formal exams. Their teachers are experts who do research in areas like mental health, organised crime, and how reliable witnesses are.
