BSc Software Engineering With Foundation Year

The BSc Software Engineering with Foundation Year enables students to develop practical skills in creating software applications through a combination of lectures and hands-on tutorial sessions. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate on real-world projects and produce software prototypes inspired by industry.

The Foundation Year is suitable for students who do not meet the entry requirements for the BSc (Hons) Software Engineering course. They will share the first year with other computing foundation year students before progressing to the degree. During the first year of study, they will enhance their skills and prepare themselves for the main degree.

In their final year, Students will design and build their own software application, guided by a dedicated project supervisor. Learning takes place through lectures, hands-on lab sessions, tutorials, teamwork, and group-based self-study.

A reference from a teacher or a former employer is usually needed. You also have the choice to include your CV with your application to show any work experience you have.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants should hold 32-48 UCAS tariff points, equivalent to A-level grades within the range of B-C or other equivalent qualifications.

English Proficiency:

• If English is not your main language, you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with at least 5.5 in each part (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).

• The university also accepts other English language tests, such as PTE or TOEFL.

The tuition fee for studying the  BSc Software Engineering with Foundation Year at the University of Bedfordshire is £16,900.

The University of Bedfordshire offers several scholarships to help students with their studies. These include Excellence Scholarships of £2,500 per year for three years, Achievement Scholarships of £500 per year, and a £1,000 scholarship for international students in their first year.
