FdSc Sports Therapy

Course Overview

This two-year Foundation Degree trains students to become skilled sports therapists. These therapists can prevent, find, and treat injuries in athletes and people who are active. The course focuses heavily on practical work, teaching main subjects like exercise science, how the body's muscles and bones work, and injury care methods. After successful completion of the course, graduates meet the school requirements to apply to become members of The Society of Sports Therapists.

Learning takes place through a mix of large group lessons, smaller practical sessions, tutorials, visits, and work experience. This ensures students spend a lot of time with their lecturers. Their progress is measured using a blend of coursework, hands-on tests where they show their clinical skills, and formal written exams. Students can also earn extra, useful certificates, such as professional first aid and sports massage qualifications.
