BSc Computer Science with a Foundation Year
Course overview
The BSc Computer Science with a Foundation Year from Swansea University is a four-year undergraduate degree that teaches students the fundamentals of computer science. Students who love working with numbers, can think critically, and prefer hands-on learning would find this course enjoyable.
This programme includes a foundation year, where students undertake introductory courses in maths and science before proceeding to the main bachelor’s degree. This is the alternative for those who don’t meet the standard entry requirements or are switching from a different field. The foundation year also builds academic study, communication, and IT skills.
Additionally, students undertake modules that explain programming, IT, automation, data analysis, and some high-level mathematics. Upon completion of the foundation degree, they will then progress to the first year of the standard BSc Computer Science degree. Learning in this course is through lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions. Assessment methods include written reports, verbal presentations, tests, examinations, and a final-year project.
