Course overview
Solent University’s professionally accredited 4-year electronic engineering programme can help students to turn these interests into a lucrative and engaging career. With a broad curriculum covering everything from analogue and digital electronics to contemporary embedded systems, signal processing technologies and modern communications. In the first year, students develop a solid foundation in maths and circuitry before getting to grips with analogue, digital and microcomputer systems.
The latter half of the year is focused on developing an understanding of industry software, key professional skills and manufacturing techniques. These proficiencies will form a solid foundation for the second and third years, during which students will study embedded systems and advanced data communications, conduct their own research, and undertake a major practical project. This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). This means the course content meets the industry's strict standards.
Entry requirements
Grade Requirements:
- The grade requirements are as follows:
- UCAS Tariff: International students are required to score a minimum of 104 - 120 points
- Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) – DMM.
- International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme: International students are required to score a minimum of 28-31 points.
English Proficiency:
- The English grade requirements for international students are as follows:
- IELTS (Academic) requires a total score of 6 with 5.5 in each component.
- TOEFL (iBT) requires a total score of 80 with a minimum of 20 in each element.
