BArch Architecture

The BArch Architecture at Sheffield Hallam University is designed to enable students to develop the fundamental skills needed to combine both construction and design, focusing not only on the creation of the built environment but also on the structuring of space in and around it

You will develop practical and technical skills – including proficiency in various modelling software, from Computer Aided Design (CAD) to Building Information Modelling (BIM). These tools enable you to explore designs and create data-rich environments, enhancing your capabilities as an architect.

Students will engage in team-based projects within the design studio environment, with an opportunity to work across disciplines in an innovative collaborative project module. They will also work with real clients on design projects, allowing them to bring out their practical skills and make tangible contributions to the world.

In their final year, students will research a topic of their choice, enabling them to master the investigation, data analysis and reporting skills they will need in professional practice. This combination of practice-focused learning and industry issues will make them stand out to employers, preparing them to become confident graduates.

Sheffield Hallam University was established in 1843 and is structured into three main colleges: the College of Business, Technology and Engineering, the College of Social Sciences and Arts, and the College of Health, Wellbeing, and Life Sciences. The university is home to around 32,000 students, with about 18% of them being international students.

Grade Requirements:

• Applicants should hold 120 UCAS tariff points, equivalent to A-level grades within the range of ABB-CCC or other equivalent qualifications.

English Proficiency:

• If English is not your main language, you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with at least 5.5 in each part (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
• The university also accepts other English language tests, such as PTE or TOEFL.

Sheffield Hallam University offers various scholarships and financial support to international students at all study levels, including those starting their first degree, those studying for a higher degree, and international students. This support is available for specific groups, such as young people leaving local authority care, individuals studying nursing or related health professions, and talented student athletes. There is also money to help fine art students attend arts events and lower fees for international students who have achieved high grades. More financial help is available for undergraduate students doing a work placement year and new international students joining the university.
