Course overview

The PhD Management, Marketing, and People at London South Bank University lasts three years for full-time students and five years for part-time students. This programme is meant for professionals who want to deepen their knowledge in business subjects.

It is accredited by the Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IoEE) and takes place at the university’s Southwark campus. Students will engage in independent research on topics like organisational behaviour, consumer behaviour, leadership, and strategic marketing.

As part of the programme, students must write research papers or a thesis that is 80,000 words long. They can choose to do practical research, which involves real-world applications, or theoretical research that explores new ideas in their field. Students will also attend weekly research meetings and take part in a Key Skills Development Programme to enhance their skills.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants must provide two academic references and attend an interview with their potential supervisor. This interview can be in person or over the phone.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need to have at least a second-class degree (2:2) and a suitable postgraduate qualification. It is good if they also have a merit grade in their Master's programme.

English Proficiency: 

  • Applicants who are non-native English speakers need a minimum score of 7.0 on the IELTS. 
  • Other equivalent English proficiency test scores may also be accepted.
