BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with foundation year

Course Overview

The London South Bank University Electrical and Electronic Engineering Foundation Year is a four-year programme designed for students who may not meet the direct entry requirements for a standard engineering degree. The initial foundation year focuses on building academic, study, and practical skills essential for university-level engineering. This includes core modules in engineering principles, mathematics, and scientific fundamentals, preparing students for the demanding nature of the degree.

Following the successful completion of the foundation year, students progress onto the three-year BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree. This part of the course covers advanced topics, including electrical circuit analysis, digital logic design, electronic principles, and programming.

The programme aims to develop professional engineers capable of working in various sectors, from embedded control systems to integrated circuit development. Learning involves a blend of lectures, tutorials, and hands-on laboratory work, with assessment methods typically combining coursework and examinations.
