MArch Architecture RIBA 2

Course Overview

MArch Architecture RIBA 2 is a design-oriented master's degree programme. It is aimed at helping students develop skills to be able to work in areas of design, technology, practice, history and theory. The course promotes creativity and experimentation among the students in their work, and considers social, political, and economic factors in their designs.

To motivate learning, tutors set self-directed study and ambitious projects. Evaluation is mainly achieved by design projects, but coursework, professional reports and technology dissertations are also used in evaluating the work of the students. The course is recognised by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Architects Registration Board (ARB).

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

Applicant are required to submit a personal statement in which they discuss their reasons for applying for the course and other relevant information regarding their studies. A relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required.

Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience. Selected applicants are invited to an interview where they should present a portfolio of their work, which should include a wide range of pieces.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates are required to have a good degree in architecture.
  • They must also have either completed or have an exemption from RIBA Part 1.
  • Candidates must show their design ability and a strong reason to complete the course successfully.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English speaking backgrounds need to demonstrate proficiency in English.
  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall, and no less than 5.5 in all components, is required.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for International students for the MArch Architecture RIBA 2 at London Metropolitan University is £19,500.
