MA Conference Interpreting

Course Overview

The London Metropolitan University MA Conference Interpreting prepares you for a career as a professional conference interpreter. The programme also offers a distance learning option, taught in an existing upgraded mode for both full-time (one year) and part-time (two years) students. The curriculum prepares you for work with international organisations and the private market, with practical components such as work placements, site visits, and practice in a state-of-the-art interpreting suite.

The modules in this programme are designed to give you the skills for the professional world of interpreting. You will also take part in mock conferences and language-specific tutorials, which will further help strengthen your skills. Your progress in this course will be assessed through essays, presentations, practical interpreting performances, peer and self-evaluations, a case study, a reflective portfolio, and a dissertation or research project.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

Applicants need to submit a personal statement, and a relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. They also have the option to upload their CV to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements

  • Upper second-class (or a 2.2 with professional experience) UK degree or an equivalent qualification in interpreting.
  • Applications from candidates with substantial experience as a professional interpreter but no degree will be considered.

English Proficiency

  • Secure English Language Test (SELT), such as IELTS with an overall score of 6.5 and no less than 6.0 in each component.
  • Equivalent test scores such as TOEFL are also accepted.

Cost of Study

The annual tuition fee for the MA Conference Interpreting at London Metropolitan University is £20,500 for international students.

Scholarships

The university offers various scholarships to help students with their studies. The International Bright Futures Scholarship provides a £3,000 tuition fee reduction for eligible international students with an overseas fee status.
