BSc Nutrition

Liverpool John Moores University’s BSc Nutrition is accredited by the Association for Nutrition (AfN). The programme looks at current problems in nutrition and how they affect healthcare, food production, and research, helping people improve their eating habits and live healthier lives. Students will learn about the science behind nutrition and its impact on chronic diseases like heart disease, obesity, cancer and diabetes.

The course is taught by active researchers, who bring the latest information concerning the development of the course with evidence and practice in the classroom. The curriculum focuses on five main competencies, which are Nutritional Science, Food Chain, Social and Behavioural Science, Health and Wellbeing and Professional Conduct.

Students’ assessment is done through exams (seen and unseen), written work such as essays, reports, learning logs, dissertations, lab reports, posters, review writing and blog writing, and presentations and lastly, practicals. This course will teach practical skills, critical thinking, and ethics, and prepare students for a career in health, nutrition, or community work.

Grade Requirements:

• Candidates need 88-96 UCAS tariff points, typically A‑level grades CCD -CCC. 
• A GCSE grade C or 4 or above in English language and Mathematics.
• International qualifications equivalent to A-levels are also accepted.

English Proficiency:

• Applicants need to score at least 6.0 overall in the IELTS test, with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
• Other English language test scores, such as PTE and TOEFL IBT, are also accepted.

The annual tuition fee for the BSc Nutrition course at Liverpool John Moores University for the 2025/26 academic year is £18,250.

Liverpool John Moores University offers Scholarships to International students, such as the International Achievement Scholarship, which gives them a £4,000 discount on tuition fees. It is automatic for eligible students and applies every year. To qualify, students need to fund themselves, meet their offer conditions and not have other external funding.

LJMU offers sports scholarships to talented athletes, providing them with financial support, expert guidance, and flexible study arrangements to help them balance training and studies. They also offer a £500 discount to international students who pay their tuition fees early.
