MEng Civil Engineering

Course Overview

The Kingston University MEng Civil Engineering course is created to help provide future engineers with the knowledge and skills they need to design, construct, and shape the built environment. The course looks at global issues such as climate change and changes in the industry due to technology. 

The course starts with engineering basics, making sure that students understand major principles before moving into specific civil engineering areas.

In this course, students take part in different learning activities, including lectures, group discussions, tutorials, practical lab work, field trips, and design classes. Students’ progress is assessed through tests and written assignments, such as reports, computer tasks, and essays. Students also have the choice to take a year-long work placement, which helps them get real-world experience in the field.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

To be enrolled, applicants need to submit a personal statement, and a relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. They can also upload their CV to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants typically need 128-136 UCAS points from A-levels, BTEC (DDM), or an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme score of 28 points. Applicants can also submit international qualifications that are equivalent to A-levels.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants who are from non-English speaking backgrounds need an IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with no individual element below 5.5. 
  • Other equivalent English language qualifications, such as TOEFL or PTE, are also accepted.

Cost of Study

For the 2025/2026 academic year, the annual tuition fee for international students taking the MEng Civil Engineering at Kingston University is £18,500 for year 1.

Scholarships

Kingston University offers many scholarships to support both UK and international students. International students may be eligible for International Scholarships, providing a £5,000 fee reduction, or specific GREAT Scholarships (£10,000 for certain nationalities). Chevening Scholarships can also cover tuition fees and living expenses. Additionally, the Postgraduate Progression Scholarship offers a 15% reduction in postgraduate tuition fees for Kingston University undergraduate students moving on to a postgraduate degree.
