BEng Mechanical Engineering

Course Overview

The BEng Mechanical Engineering at Kingston University provides students with a theoretical background and practical knowledge in engineering design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, applied mechanics and electronics. 

Some of the modules covered in the course include fluid dynamics and thermal systems, microcontrollers and applied business management. The learning process is supported by the use of industry-standard equipment and labs for practical work.

The Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, project work, workshops in computer labs, and small-group tutorials, while the assessment is through coursework, practicals, exams and an individual research project.

Kingston University is located in the riverside town of Kingston, South-West London, England. It was founded in 1899 and was formerly known as Kingston Technical Institute. The university was later referred to as Kingston Polytechnic, before gaining university status in 1992.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

All applicants are required to submit a personal statement discussing their interest in the course and relevant academic or professional experience. A reference from an academic referee or employer is required, and a CV may be uploaded to show any relevant experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants typically need at least three A Levels, including Mathematics and a science subject. Or equivalent Level 3 qualifications, such as a BTEC National Extended Diploma in Engineering or a related subject, such as Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering (grades DMM).
  • Alternatively, an Access Course in a relevant Engineering subject, which has been passed with all Maths and Physics units passed at Level 3 (112 UCAS points), will be considered.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants who do not speak English as their first language need an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no element below 5.5.
  • Alternative tests such as PTE or TOEFL are accepted.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for this course is £18,500 for international students in the first year. Tuition fees are reviewed annually and are subject to change.

Scholarships

Kingston University offers several scholarships and bursaries to international students enrolling for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The scholarships are worth £5,000 towards the first year's tuition fees. When the scholarship is awarded and students pay the full tuition fees in advance, there is a deduction of £5,000 from the initial total fees. The £5,000 deduction is done on the final instalment if students are paying by instalments. The GREAT scholarship, which provides financial support of £10,000 towards tuition fees, is available to international students.
