BEng Aircraft Engineering Top-Up

Course Overview

The BEng Aircraft Engineering top-up is a one-year full-time programme created for students who have a Level 5 qualification, such as a foundation degree or an EASA Cat B aircraft engineering license. This course provides engineering skills for senior roles in the aviation industry. It teaches aircraft design, maintenance, and engineering principles.

Students learn through theory and practical work, with facilities including a rocket propulsion laboratory and a Merlin flight simulator at the Roehampton Vale campus. 

Students will engage in individual and group projects on industry-related topics with subjects such as air transport economics, aerospace technology, and aircraft maintenance operations. Assessment combines coursework, practical elements, and examinations.

Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

Candidates must submit a personal statement, academic or employer reference, and optionally, a CV to give a picture of their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates need a Level 5 qualification with 240 credits in a related subject, such as a Kingston University Foundation Degree. 
  • European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 66 Category B Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Licence is accepted.

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with no score below 5.5. 
  • PTE and TOEFL are accepted.
  • Pre-sessional English language courses are available for those who do not meet the direct requirement.

Cost of Study

For international students, the fee for the 2025/26 academic year is £18,500.

Scholarships

For international students, Kingston University offers International Development scholarships, which are partial awards of £5,000 for the first year of study, to encourage academic excellence and broaden the student population. The university offers discounts and scholarships. Eligible students progressing from undergraduate to postgraduate studies get a 15% discount, while all alumni get a 10% discount. International students with a Kingston University family connection can apply for a 10% Family Bursary (applications open in September 2025). Previous Study Abroad, Summer School, or Exchange students also get a 10% discount. Additionally, GREAT Scholarships offer £10,000 for postgraduate students from Indonesia, Thailand, and Ghana (check the British Council and Kingston University's websites for future opportunities).
