Course overview

The MEng(Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering prepares graduates to tackle complex and innovative challenges in the field of mechanical engineering. The program cultivates creativity and technical expertise, equipping students with the latest skills and knowledge to thrive in diverse career paths, such as engineering management, research, design, development, and consultancy.

The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), helping graduates meet the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Entry requirements

For your application, submit a personal statement detailing your motivation and skills for the course, a reference from a teacher or employer, and a CV that showcases your relevant professional background.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need UCAS 120 UCAS points or A Levels at grades ABB–BBB in relevant subjects, or a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering with DDM–DMM.
  • Relevant equivalent international qualifications will also be considered·
  • Applicants must have at least 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (A*–C), including English and Mathematics. 

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from non-English-speaking backgrounds must achieve a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
  • Equivalent test scores, such as TOEFL or PTE, are also accepted.

  • 25% Alumni Discount

    Alumni who hold an undergraduate or postgraduate degree are now eligible for a 25% discount on the majority of published postgraduate taught full-time or part-time course fees including postgraduate certificates, diplomas.

  • Coventry University Group Scholarship

    £2,000 scholarship per year of study.

  • Sports Scholarships

    £1,500 or £3,000 per year

  • Vice-Chancellor Undergraduate Scholarship

    Up to £4,000 off a full-time Undergraduate degree: Year 1 – £2,000, Year 2 – £1,000 and Year 3 – £1,000.
