MArch Architecture

Course Overview

The MArch Architecture is a postgraduate degree for students who already hold a degree in architecture. Students build on prior architectural design skills. The programme emphasises design work, research, technical and professional development, and prepares students for registration as architects. A portfolio of relevant design work must be submitted. Students may benefit from connections with industry and professional accreditation routes. The degree supports registration pathways with professional bodies.

The Master of Architecture (MArch) programme at Coventry University runs for 2 years full-time. Students work on advanced architectural design studios, technical systems, environment and sustainability, research methods, and professional practice. Place in practice (experience) and completion of portfolio work are important. Learning includes design studios, seminars, workshops, technical lectures, and live design briefs. Students learn about sustainability, digital tools, construction technology, materiality, environment, and research methods. Assessment is conducted through design projects, portfolios, presentations, technical reports, research projects, and final major design work.
