Clinical Psychology Doctorate

The Clinical Psychology Doctorate is a three-year course that trains students to become clinical psychologists within the National Health Service (NHS) and similar settings. The programme is a joint award between Coventry University and the University of Warwick, which gives trainees access to the resources and facilities in both universities.

The course places priority on personal and professional growth, making students thoughtful practitioners. This programme divides classes and research training at the two universities, and a compulsory clinical placement in the NHS is prepared for students.

Students are encouraged to use psychological ideas and theories in creative ways to solve problems in clinical environments. Trainees are full-time employees of the NHS, and their fees are often sponsored by Health Education England, which is subject to change.

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, and their CVs to show their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

• Candidates must have a second-class honours degree (2:1 or higher) or an international equivalent in psychology. The degree must be accredited by the British Psychological Society.
• Candidates with a 2:2 will be considered if they have a master's degree in a relevant subject.
• Candidates must also show relevant clinical experience and an understanding of the NHS.

English Proficiency:

• Candidates should submit an overall score of 7.0 in the IELTS test.
• PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.
