MSc Data Science

Course Overview

The MSc Data Science at Cardiff Metropolitan University is a one‑-year full‑-time (or up to three‑-year part‑-time) Master’s programme that develops sound theoretical and practical skills in data science. This course has compulsory modules such as Big Data for Enterprise, Big Data Technologies, Geospatial Analysis, Programming for Data Analysis, Data Analytics & Visualisation, Information Security, Research & Professional Practice, and a Technology Dissertation.

Students learn through lectures, workshops, and lab sessions, supported by dedicated academic and pastoral support and are assessed through group coursework, research-based assignments, practical tasks, presentations, reports, class tests, and a dissertation valued at 40 credits. The course is accredited by BCS and IET, meeting part of the criteria for Chartered IT Professional and further learning for Chartered Engineer status. Entry Requirements for Egyptian Students

  • Applicants should have at least a second-class honours degree (2:2) in a relevant subject such as computer science, mathematics, engineering, or physics.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants from a non-English speaking background must achieve at least IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each section.
  • An equivalent SELT score is accepted.
