MSc Quantum Technology
Course overview
MSc Quantum Technology at the University of Sussex allows students to explore the fascinating world of quantum physics and learn practical applications within the field. In this programme, students will learn through a combination of scientific theory, hands-on exercises, and real-world case studies. All of these together will help them gain expert knowledge of quantum phenomena, such as quantum entanglement and its transformative potential. At the end of the programme, students should be able to handle any challenge that comes with working with emerging quantum technologies, including quantum networks for secure communications.
Studying MSc Quantum Technology at the University of Sussex means students will benefit from the close ties the University has with the Sussex Centre for Quantum Technologies, where seven research groups lead pioneering work in areas such as ion-trap quantum processors, ion-photon interfaces designed for a projected quantum internet, quantum simulators, superconducting quantum circuits, devices for quantum-enhanced metrology, and photonic quantum systems. This environment prepares students to innovate and apply quantum technology in cutting-edge industries.
