BSc Computing with Business Management

Course Overview

The BSc Computing with Business Management programme at the University of Surrey, delivered in partnership with the Surrey Business School, combines computing and business management knowledge. It equips students with the technical and practical skills necessary to work as business analysts or consultants, while developing strong technical knowledge and a functional management perspective that prepares graduates for different roles across different industries.

Students will learn about business finance, information security management, emerging web and cloud technologies, programming, and software engineering through a combination of teaching methods, including practical project-based lab work in which they apply frameworks to client—and server-side development.

The programme also offers opportunities for a Professional Training placement scheme, which provides valuable industry experience and has won awards. Assessment is done through Practical project-based lab work and Team projects.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Applicants are required to submit a personal statement, academic or employer reference, and a detailed research proposal, with an optional CV, to show their suitability for the course.

Grade Requirements:

  • Applicants need an A-level of ABB with subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Computing, or Software Systems Development.

English Proficiency:

  • Applicants need an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in each other component.
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic or TOEFL (iBT), is also accepted.

Cost of Study

For the 2025 entry, the tuition fees for the BSc Computing with Business Management programme are £27,000 per year for international students.

Scholarships

The University of Surrey supports its undergraduate students with various scholarships and bursaries. These include the Battersea Scholarship, which provides care-experienced students with up to £16,000 (£4,000 per year for three years, plus additional payment for a Professional Training Year if undertaken), and the Forever Surrey Scholarship, offering students who meet widening participation criteria up to £16,000 (£4,000 per year for three years, plus a Professional Training Year if taken).

Additionally, Home/UK students pursuing BEng or MEng degrees in specific engineering fields like Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic, Civil, or Chemical and Process Engineering are eligible for the Fluor Scholarship. Selected international students starting their bachelor's degree in September 2025 can also receive the International Excellence Award in recognition of their academic excellence.
