LLM International Human Rights

The LLM International Human Rights at the University of Sunderland is a one-year, full-time Master’s programme designed to provide students with a strong foundation in international human rights law. The course combines workshops, independent study, and a substantial research project to develop advanced legal understanding and practical skills relevant to global human rights issues.

Grade Requirements:

• Candidates must hold at least a lower second-class honours degree (2:2) or a GPA of 2.40/5 (or equivalent international qualification).

English Proficiency:

• Applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 6.0.
• Other accepted tests include:
  • Secure English Language Test (SELT)
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) – minimum score of 59 in each component
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) – minimum grade C
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) – minimum overall score of 170
• Applicants with other qualifications should contact the International Office for guidance.
• Students who do not meet the English language requirements may take an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Preparation Course before starting the programme.

The tuition fee for international students enrolled in the LLM International Human Rights at the University of Sunderland is £17,000 per year. Fees are subject to annual review and may change.
