BA Mass Communications Top-Up

Course Overview

This top-up course is designed to convert an existing qualification into a full honours degree. It offers a blend of critical analysis and creative production, blending theory with practical application. The programme concentrates on contemporary issues in media, communication, and culture, and students will engage with current global media discussions concerning digital platforms, popular culture, and professional communication practices.

A core part of the course is an independent project, which can be either a written dissertation or a media-based creative output. The course highlights the close relationship between theory and practice and is taught by academic staff with industry experience. Assessment methods include portfolios of practical work, essays, examinations, reports, and presentations. The university's state-of-the-art media facility, the mediaHUB, provides students with professional training using industry-standard equipment.
