BSc Sport and Exercise Science
Course overview
The BSc Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Suffolk is an undergraduate degree that enhances students' physicality, stamina, and agility through sport and exercise. This course is mainly practical, and students learn techniques to develop muscles for long-term health.
In this programme, students learn how humans respond and adapt to physical activity, exercise and sport. These activities are included in the curriculum to help students learn the scientific concepts and develop their sporting skills while also practising enough to understand the theories even better.
By studying at Suffolk, students benefit from industry connections with elite sport and exercise science companies such as STATSports and facilities in the Human Performance Laboratories suite, where they develop work-ready skills. Additionally, the course provides modules in physiology, including nutrition, biomechanics, and psychology. It is also accredited by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), which means the programme adheres to the highest standards of excellence.
Learning is through lectures, exercise laboratory and field test work, case studies of athletes, and original sport and exercise research. Assessment methods include practical skill observations, presentations, essays, examinations, and independent research articles.
