MSc Satellite Data for Sustainable Development

Course Overview

This special MSc programme connects satellite data skills with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This programme teaches students satellite applications, space system design, data science, and sustainability, providing students with practical skills for world development.

Students get practical learning experience that is closely linked to the University's Centre for Sustainable Development, which gives them a great understanding of the global movement for the 17 UN SDGs.

The programme includes compulsory modules like Spaceflight Systems and Machine Learning for Satellite Data. Assessment is done through assignments, examinations, and an individual project. Students get to work on industry research or their own solutions using Earth Observation data.

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Candidates need to submit a personal statement and relevant information regarding their studies, an academic and/or employer reference, and their CVs to show their work experience. If a candidate is selected, they will be invited for an interview.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a first-class and second-class honours degree or an international equivalent in an engineering or physical science subject.
  • Other relevant subjects such as geography, geoscience, environmental science, and computer science, basic knowledge in coding and programming is a big plus.

English Proficiency:

  • Candidates should submit an overall score of 6.5 in the IELTS score, with no component below 5.5.
  • PTE Academic and TOEFL IBT are also accepted.

Cost of Study
