University of Strathclyde

Course overview

This postgraduate course brings together knowledge from physics, chemistry, and other scientific fields. It is designed for physical science graduates and allows students to examine the tiny building blocks of the world and the new ideas and technology behind them. The programme involves six months of learning in the classroom, followed by three months of work on a research project.

The programme Modules cover Introductory Nanoscience, Physics Skills, and Nanochemistry. Students are taught using lectures, tutorials, workshops, and lab experiments. They are assessed through written examinations and continuous coursework, with an oral examination for some modules. The final project is assessed by a detailed report, a presentation, and a viva.
