MSc Advanced Manufacturing Technology Systems

Course Overview

The University of Strathclyde MSc Advanced Manufacturing: Technology & Systems programme is made for graduates in the field of manufacturing, engineering, design, or business, including experts who have already gained some experience in the industry. The programme is designed to equip the students to work in the manufacturing industry, with the specialised skills in fields like automation of manufacturing, high-end production processes, micro/nano-manufacturing, and strategic technology management.

Learning is structured around compulsory and elective classes, as well as projects. Students will complete a Postgraduate Group Project with an industrial client and an Individual Project that culminates in a dissertation. The course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED), and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Entry Requirements for Sri Lankan Students

Applicants who are interested in this course need to submit a personal statement, and a relevant academic and/or employer reference is also required. Students have the option to upload their CV along with their applications to demonstrate their work experience.

Grade Requirements:

  • Candidates are normally required to hold a first-class or second-class honours degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant engineering or science discipline.

English Proficiency:

  • The university’s standard requirement for candidates who are from non-English speaking backgrounds is an IELTS score of 6.0-6.5 overall, with no individual section score below 5.5. The university accepts other English language tests like TOEFL and PTE.

Cost of Study

The tuition fee for the MSc Advanced Manufacturing: Technology & Systems at the University of Strathclyde is £31,100 for international students. Please note that fees are subject to an annual increase.

Scholarships

The university offers various scholarships to support postgraduate students from around the world. Self-funded, international students who begin the course in September 2025 are eligible for a £5,000 scholarship, which will be automatically deducted from their tuition fees.
