MSc Advanced Computer Science with Software Engineering January start

University of Strathclyde

Course overview

The MSc in Advanced Computer Science with Software Engineering is a postgraduate programme for those with an undergraduate degree in a related computing discipline. It is designed to develop existing software engineering skills and teach advanced techniques for creating large, reliable, and secure software systems. The curriculum is focused on the practical application of skills to design and deploy modern software systems across a number of different areas. This is a full-time, 12-month course that begins in January.

The programme is structured with two teaching semesters, each with three or four modules, followed by a three-month research project during the summer. Teaching methods include lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in specialist laboratories. Assessment is based on a blend of individual and group work, examinations, and laboratory-based practical work. Roughly half of the classes are assessed by coursework, with the others using a combination of coursework and exams.
