Course overview
The BSc Construction Project Management (with Sandwich Year) at the University of South Wales prepares students for professional jobs in construction and the built environment. The course teaches basic construction knowledge and key management skills. Students learn how to plan, cost, schedule and control construction projects. They study all stages of a project, from early design to final completion and handover. Main topics include project planning, contracts, buying materials, risk management, health and safety, and quality control. Emphasis is placed on managing people, resources, and budgets within a regulated industry.

This placement year helps students apply classroom learning to real construction projects and develop professional confidence. Learning encourages critical thinking and practical application, supported by real case studies and project-based work. The programme is delivered through lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical project work. The sandwich year placement is supported by the university and forms part of the overall degree structure.
