PhD Theoretical Physics

University of Lincoln

Course overview

The School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Lincoln provides a modern research environment for fundamental and applied mathematics and physics. The programme encourages students to contribute to international scientific journals and present their findings at conferences. Students will use specialist computational facilities and training programmes to improve their research skills.

Students will receive guidance from dedicated academic supervisors. The programme mainly involves independent study, research, and regular meetings with supervisors. Assessment is based on the quality of the student's thesis and their ability to explain their research in an oral examination, showing how their findings have added to the field.

To succeed in this programme, it is important to choose a research topic that interests you and find a supervisory team with expertise in that area. Potential students should contact a staff member from one of the research areas to discuss the application process further.
