LLM Law International Criminal Justice

University of Kent

Course overview

The LLM Law (International Criminal Justice) at the University of Kent is designed for students who already work, or intend to work, within the criminal justice system, whether for the police, probation service, prison service, or other organisations. The programme covers criminal law and procedure in the UK and internationally, allowing students to learn about criminal justice systems from across the world, including the management of organisations, human rights and causes of criminal behaviour.

The programme is delivered in collaboration with the MA in Criminology offered by the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research. Students on the LLM and MA can take modules from both programmes. Criminology has specialists in many areas, including criminological theory, research methods, youth crime, gender, cultural criminology and terrorism, which will give students a better understanding of the hows and the ways crime takes place. Students are assessed through a combination of lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, coursework, assignments and a final dissertation project.
