BSc Business Information Technology

University of Kent

Course overview

The BSc Business Information Technology programme at the University of Kent provides a comprehensive understanding of the intersection between business principles and information technology. Students explore how IT solutions can drive business efficiency, innovation, and strategic decision-making. The curriculum integrates core business modules with specialised IT subjects, covering areas such as database management, systems analysis, and project management.

Learning involves a mix of lectures, workshops, and practical projects, with assessments including coursework, presentations, and examinations. The programme emphasises the development of both technical and business acumen. Students learn to analyse business problems and design appropriate IT solutions, gaining skills in areas like data analysis, web development, and IT strategy.

Additional opportunities include optional modules to tailor the degree to specific interests and access to industry-standard software and resources. The work placement year is a key feature, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a professional setting and build industry contacts. This hands-on experience is highly valued by employers and significantly improves graduate prospects.
