BSc Computing
Course overview
The BSc Computing (with Sandwich) at the University of Greenwich is designed to develop practical computing knowledge alongside professional experience. This programme teaches students computer skills and helps them gain real work experience. Students learn how computers are designed, built, and used in businesses. The sandwich course includes time at university and a year working in a real job. In the first part of the course, students learn the basics of computing. This includes coding, how computer systems work, databases, networks, and how to solve problems. As students move forward, they study more hands-on and work-related topics like building software, creating websites, planning systems, and handling information.
Students spend a lot of time in computer labs, where they practice what they learn. The sandwich year takes place during the third year. During this year, students work full-time in a computing job and gain real experience. They also think about how their job connects to what they learned in class. In the final year, students take advanced classes and complete a big project on their own. This project lets them show their skills in coding, problem-solving, and system building. Learning includes lessons, lab work, online learning, and self-study. Students are graded through assignments, practical work, presentations, exams, and their final project.
