BEng Computer Engineering Extended
Course overview
The BEng Computer Engineering (Extended) at the University of Greenwich is a four-year full-time undergraduate degree that begins with a foundation year. This means students who may not yet have full entry requirements can build their study skills and subject knowledge in the first year. In the foundation year, students learn the basics of engineering mathematics, computing foundations, professional skills, and an introduction to hardware or software work. Then, in subsequent years, they study modules in digital systems, embedded systems, robotics, real-time computing, and hardware/software integration. Practical lab work, design projects, and applied learning are key to the programme.
The extended model gives more time for students to settle into University-level study, develop confidence, build technical skills, and then move into degree-level work. The course has professional accreditation by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council, meaning it meets standards for engineering education. Students will learn through a mix of lectures, seminars, lab sessions, workshop tutorials, and hands-on design studios. Assessment formats include written exams, continuous coursework, lab reports, design and build projects, group presentations, and final major project work.
