BEng Computer Engineering

University of Greenwich

Course overview

The BEng Computer Engineering (with Sandwich) at the University of Greenwich teaches students how computer systems are designed, built, and used. It combines electrical engineering and computer science to show how hardware and software work together. The course starts with core engineering principles and gradually moves to more practical and professional skills. Students learn how data is processed and how electronic components function in computer systems. Practical lab sessions let students build and test circuits, programs, and small systems to understand theory in a practical way. In later years, students study advanced topics in computer hardware, software, and embedded systems. They also complete a major engineering project in their final year.

The BEng Computer Engineering (with Sandwich) at the University of Greenwich gives students the skills needed for technical jobs in the computing, electronics, and engineering industries. The course lasts four years, including a sandwich placement year. During this year, students work full-time in a computer engineering or technology role. This gives students practical experience and helps them apply what they have learnt in class. Teaching includes lectures, tutorials, lab sessions, and design workshops. Students are assessed through coursework, lab reports, exams, presentations, and project work. The course combines learning, practical experience, and professional development to prepare students for careers in the technology and engineering fields.
