PhD Sports Therapy

University of EssexColchester Campus, United Kingdom

Course overview

The PhD is a research degree, usually taking three to four years full-time, where students work at the heart of an internationally connected research community. Students undertake an independent research project within the School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences, focusing on an area of staff expertise in sports therapy.

Learning involves training as an independent researcher, guided by one or two supervisors through regular one-to-one meetings and bi-annual supervisory board meetings. The final assessment is the submission of a thesis, typically up to 80,000 words, which must critically assess existing work and contribute new knowledge to the field.
