BA Interior Architecture
Course overview
The BA Interior Architecture at the University of East London bridges the practices of interior design and architecture. The course equips students with the creative, technical, and conceptual tools necessary to shape spatial experiences, with a strong emphasis on spatial reuse, transformation, and adaptive reuse of existing buildings. Students will learn skills in areas like lighting and performance design, sculptural installation, retail and experience design, and public urban commissions, preparing them for a professional career as an interior architect.
The learning environment is highly praised, with the university's design studies ranking first in London for "Learning Opportunities" according to the NSS 2023 survey. Students will have to present studio work through a design portfolio and supporting studies in the form of bound reports, with opportunities for students to pursue an optional work placement for added professional experience and career development. The curriculum blends digital and analogue skills with a study of the historical and critical aspects of interior architecture and spatial speculation.
