LLM International Energy Law and Policy

University of Dundee

Course overview

This 12-month, full-time Master of Laws (LLM) programme studies how energy resources, including oil, gas, and renewable energy, are managed and controlled worldwide. It focuses its energy on the legal rules and plans, ensuring energy security, promoting sustainable practices, and protecting the environment. Teaching is done by the famous Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law & Policy (CEPMLP).

Students will learn about the regulations and legal setup of the electricity and gas industries, how energy markets are opened up to competition, and how disputes are resolved. Their performances will be checked through coursework and a final key research project (thesis). Optionally, students can choose to do an internship instead of the research project to get valuable work experience.
