Course overview

The BSc International Business at the University of Dundee focuses on how companies operate in a global environment. The course teaches students how businesses trade across borders, manage international projects, and respond to economic, social and political changes worldwide. Students learn about international marketing, global supply chains, cross-cultural management and business strategy.

The course combines theory and practical skills. Students explore real business cases, learn to analyse international markets and develop solutions to business challenges. Topics include international finance, trade regulations, marketing strategies, and managing diverse teams. Students also study how cultural, economic and political differences influence decision-making. By the final year, students work on projects that bring together knowledge from all modules, preparing them for international careers or further study.

This undergraduate programme is usually studied over three to four years full-time. The first year introduces fundamental business concepts, including accounting, economics, marketing and management. Students also develop essential research, presentation and communication skills.

In the second year, modules focus on international aspects of business. Students learn about global markets, international trade, cross-cultural communication and international business law. The final year focuses on advanced topics, including strategic management, international business policy and a major independent project, and students may have opportunities to study abroad or complete internships with international companies

Teaching is delivered through lectures, seminars, workshops and independent study, and students engage in group projects and case studies to develop problem-solving and teamwork skills. Assessment methods include exams, essays, reports, presentations and project work. Feedback is provided to guide the development of analytical and practical skills.
